HERMES participated in the Cyprus International Defence and Security Conference “BATTLEFIELD ReDEFiNED 2023”
On 23rd and 24th January 2023, Mr. Christos Skoufis (HERMES Coordinator) and Dr. Marios Sophocleous (eBOS Technical R&D Project Manager) participated in the Cyprus International Defence and Security Conference “BATTLEFIELD ReDEFiNED 2023” representing HERMES project.
The conference was organised by CD Multimedia Services, in collaboration with the Cyprus Association of Research and Innovation Enterprises (CARIE) and the Cypriot Defence Industry Cluster. The conference was hosted for the first time in Limassol under the auspices of the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Cyprus and the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The purpose of the conference was to highlight the emerging Defence Industry of the Republic of Cyprus and to present the new trends and technologies as well as the lessons learned from the recent conflicts in the troubled geopolitical environment and region of our times. The synergies between the Armed and Security Forces as well as the role they play were also foregrounded.
The participants had the opportunity to learn, among others, about the latest technologies related to multi-domain and network-centric operations, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, various unmanned systems (UAVs and UGVs), cyber security, C4ISR, electronic warfare systems, coastal defence systems and anti-drones, advanced composite materials for defence applications, as well as many other interests in a unique event at the crossroads of Europe, Asia, and Africa. A special section was also devoted to the possibilities of developing a strong Defence, Security, and Space industrial base in Cyprus by taking advantage of the industrial aspects of the European Defence Cooperation and the EU funding tools.
The conference was an excellent opportunity to present the HERMES project so as to collaborate with similar projects and organisations under the Defence Industry Cluster and promote initiatives and collaborations as part of the project’s impact maximisation activities.
